Shkodra Lake is situated in the north of Albania. The area that covers this lake is 36,000ha one third of which belongs to Albania. The maximal depth of the lake is 45m and the average one is 8m. The main species of fish caught in the lake are common carp.

European eel, bleak, Prussian carp etc. Fishing in the lake is also carried out using stationary equipment such as pinar. Fishery sector became organized with the arrival of professional fishing groups. Today a number of private businesses and individuals fish on.
