The Directorate Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Water
Administration, Directorate of Fisheries Policies is the administrative
body of the fisheries sector. The Fishery Inspectorate has its own local
representatives in the main 14 districts. The Fishery Inspectorate is
responsible for the control of fishery laws implementation, besides that,
it is also the local representative of the Fishery Directorate. The
mission of the Fishery Directorate is to support and develop the fishery
sector, basing on a certain policy and strategy. It creates strategies
and policy that make possible the responsible exploitation of watery
biological resources and the continual growth of fish production. The main tasks of the Fishery Directorate are: -To create, improve, follow and implement fishery and aquaculture laws. -To create short term, medium term and long term programs in order to
develop the fishery sector and continually to improve it, according to
the new scientific achievements and economical changes. -To propose, improve and complete the legislation, concerning the
fishing criteria, taxation conditions, licenses renewals, application of
the industrial artisanal, scientific and sportive fishing. -To determine periods of the biological cessation, to determine the
forbidden fishing zones, the technical restrictions for ships and
fishing tools in order to establish a legal fishing and to protect the
environment. -To maintain relations with international organizations that aims the
creation of common policies in order to exploit fishery resources. -To develop aquaculture sector and other new activities such as: the
fish, mollusk and crustacean, cultivation in marine brackish and fresh
water.
