Ohrid Lake is the second largest in Albania. It has an area of 34800ha, of which 11890 ha belong to the Republic of Albania.

The maximum depth is 295m and characteristic is the low production of phytoplancton. There are around 600 fishermen in the lake area.

Main fish species are Lake trout, Bleak and common carp. Total annual productivity varies1300-1400kv.
